Haikou Integrated Free Trade Zone was officially put into operation on March 16th.
Processing bases, storage bases and distribution bases for tourismCrelated products will be built within the free trade zone, with its functions of bonded storage and bonded processing taken advantage of. Meanwhile, it will execute an area-harbor linkage with the Macun Port, and will embark upon such businesses as bonded storage, delivery, intermediary trade and export processing.
Haikou Integrated Free Trade Zone comes under pressure in attracting investment. Currently, there is only one enterprise specializing in solar energy development, the Hanergy Holding Group Limited, inside the zone. A couple of other projects are still under negotiation.
In recent years, Haikou has suggested strengthening its cooperation with Taiwan in agriculture, and boosting its collaboration with ASEAN Free Trade Area to become the place for the industrial transfer from ASEAN nations. But little progress has been made so far. http://www.tourtochina.info/
